17th December 2003
Dear Colleagues,
NON-RESIDENTIAL UNION LEARNING REPS COURSE – 19th to 23rd January 2004
There are still places on a non-residential Union Learning Reps (ULR) course with paid leave, to be held at CWU Head Office in Wimbledon, from 19th to 23rd January 2004. Lunch, Tea and coffee will be provided.
We aim to open a learning centre in Central London and we are currently working with BT to bring this to fruition. The union will be run the centre, therefore it’s essential we demonstrate our commitment this important project by making sure we have a sufficient number of ULR’s.
ULR’s will offer an important liaison between the workplace and the learning centre. After training they will provide:
Analysis of learning or training needs
Provision of information and advice about learning or training matters
Arranging learning or training
Promotion of the value of learning or training
Consultation with the employer about carrying on any such activities
Preparation to carry out any of the above activities
According to the ACAS code of practise, ULR’s are entitled to reasonable paid time off to undertake these functions when trained.
So if you’re interested in this essential initiative to provide new and exciting opportunities for CWU members please obtain an application form for union courses from the branch office.
Yours sincerely,
Nick Darbyshire
